THE COLMAR CHRISTMAS MARKET IN 2026:
The Colmar Christmas market is one of the most renowned in Alsace, as much for the quality of the products on display as for the beauty of its decorations. The whole town is decked out for the occasion. This year it runs from 23 November to 29 December 2026 (fewer stallholders on 25 December), as indicated in the calendar of Christmas markets.
Opening hours: on weekdays, Monday to Thursday, from 11 am to 7 pm; Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm; on 24 December from 11 am to 5 pm; on 25 December from 11 am to 7 pm; and on 26 December from 10 am to 8 pm. The Gourmet market will be open from 11 am to 10 pm.
Where to find the Colmar Christmas markets?
The Colmar Christmas market actually comprises five (and even a sixth, which is a food area), located in the town centre and close to one another. We suggest a walking tour of Colmar so you can enjoy all the markets while taking in the beauty of the town.
We recommend starting your walk at the Place Jeanne d'Arc market: devoted mainly to gastronomy, it showcases regional products such as gingerbread, cheeses, pastries and charcuterie. You will also find traditional tableware and decorative items.
Then walk up the Grand Rue, admiring the various houses and churches that line it, to reach Place de l'Ancienne Douane: at the foot of and inside the old customs house, you will mainly find crafts and gastronomy.
After visiting the inside of the old customs house, return to the square and follow the watercourse upstream along Rue des Tanneurs and then Quai de la Poissonnerie to enjoy the district with Colmar's finest half-timbered houses.
When you reach the Little Venice bridge, you will find the Place des Six Montagnes Noires market: located next to Little Venice, this market is devoted to children. You can discover a magnificent wooden-horse merry-go-round as well as many toys and treats for our children.
Leave the square via the Grand Rue as far as the old customs house. At the old customs house, walk up Rue des Marchands to reach Colmar's beautiful Collegiate Church and then Place des Dominicains. At the Dominicains market, at the foot of the church of the same name, you will find Christmas trees, mistletoe and holly as well as many items to decorate your tree or your home.
From Place des Dominicains, head to Rue de la Montagne-Verte to finish at the Gourmet market on the Montagne Verte sports ground, where master restaurateurs prepare dishes to take away or eat on the spot.
